The festival spreads out across a handful of rooms in Charlottetown, each with its own feel. You can walk between most of them. Here is what to expect from each one.
Festival Main Stage
The big shows happen under the tent. This is where the headliners play, the sound is loudest, and the crowd is largest. It is a standing room setup with some seating around the edges. The tent goes up on the waterfront and stays there for the run of the festival, so once you find it you will know where to come back to every night.
Doors usually open an hour before the first act. If you want to be close to the stage, get there early. The middle of the tent fills up fast once the headliner is due on.
Church Series
The church shows are seated, quiet, and a completely different way to hear the music. The room does most of the work here. High ceilings, wood, and a crowd that actually listens. If you are bringing someone who is not sure about a loud tent show, start here. Tickets are usually cheaper than the main stage and the sets are shorter.
Some of these shows are by donation at the door. Check the individual event listing before you go so you know what to expect.
Late Night
After the main stage wraps, things move to a few partner venues around town. These are smaller rooms, later start times, and a looser feel. Players from the festival sit in with each other, and you never quite know who is going to show up on stage. Some of these are free, some have a small cover at the door. Admission is not included in the festival pass, so bring a little cash just in case.
The late night schedule is posted closer to the festival. If you are staying downtown you can walk to most of them. If you are further out, plan a ride home.
Workshops
A few afternoons during the festival there are free or low cost workshops with some of the visiting players. These are informal, hands on, and aimed at anyone who plays or wants to understand how the music gets made. Topics vary year to year. Past sessions have covered improvisation, rhythm, and instrument specific stuff. Seating is limited and it is first come, first served.
Getting around
Downtown Charlottetown is compact. Most of the venues are within a ten or fifteen minute walk of each other. If you are driving, there are a few parkades in the core and street parking after six. Some streets close around the main stage during the festival, so watch for signs. If you are staying at a hotel in the downtown area, leave the car where it is and walk.
Full venue details, addresses, and the map will be posted here once the 2026 schedule is locked in. For now, this gives you the shape of it.
